With 2008 not all that far away, I wondered who made 2007 New Year's resolutions and how you're doing. I resolved in 2005 not to make resolutions because I just end up disappointing myself. So I don't make resolutions, I just make changes every now and then. You?

My resolutions were:

Think of a password for my computer other than "password."

Try to figure out why I "really" need 11 e-mail addresses.

Find out why the correspondence course on "Mail Fraud" that I purchased never showed up.

When I hear a funny joke I will not reply, "LOL... LOL!"

Well,,, some habits never change. Lol lol!!!

I never make resolutions. On New Years Eve, we have a nice dinner outside (its hot here at that time of the year), have a few wines, and think about all the nice things that have happened through the previous year, and what we're grateful for. Then we think about what we'd like to do in the coming year. Its a nice way to spend the evening. We watch the fireworks at midnight, then have a good old cuddle, etc, to start off the new year with a bang. :-)

I quit making resolutions after I read Jonathan Edwards' list of 108 resolutions. It made mine look rather empty and pathetic. If you haven't read them here is just the first one......

1. Resolved, that I will do whatsoever I think to be most to God's glory, and my own good, profit and pleasure, in the whole of my duration, without any consideration of the time, whether now, or never so many myriad's of ages hence. Resolved to do whatever I think to be my duty and most for the good and advantage of mankind in general. Resolved to do this, whatever difficulties I meet with, how many and how great soever.

Can you imagine he came up with 107 after this one? Does anyone write like this today?

I haven't made resolutions for several years, because I can't give up sweets and good, rich food and I enjoy sex, so what's the point of resolving to do something about something I don't want to do someething about?

I did surprise myself this year on one score. I bought a carton of cigarettes that I opened January 1. I haven't bought one since. (I'm not mooching, either!)

But that wasn't a resolution. It was just a decision to go ahead and get it over with.

I quit too. Decided to keep up my reality checks though. The reality checks I actually am able to decide to change habits and do. Funny how a resolution by any other name is not a resolution.

nnaahh Dont think anybody keeps them do they. Anyway life changes rapidly so something that is reasonable in January might be totally unreasonable later on. No point to them is there.
