I like John Saul, but I read The Devil's Labyrinth and thought it was terrible. It's almost like he wasn't really even trying. Maybe he's tapped out of ideas!

Cross by James Patterson... the last few books of his have been disappointing to me. I feel like he isn't trying either. I thought Cross would be a GREAT novel since it claimed to give insight to the murderer of Alex's wife... but the storyline was just blah. There were some interesting characters... but overall, it was not what I expected.

Predator by Patricia Cornwell... her books have gotten increasingly worse over the last five years ago... I think that was my last chance for her. The Scarpetta novels used to be great. But this one included... they have been choppy, the characters do things that don't make any sense, her plot lines are hard to follow. Predator was terrible. Her characters are all depressing... I am perfectly fine with flawed characters... flawed characters are my favorites... but she has slowly chipped away at the characters' redeeming qualities to the point where the books just fall flat.

Don't you just hate it when an author you love to read pops out a complete dud? Especially when they keep doing it over and over.

Jonathon Strange and Mr. Norrell. I heard nothing but good things about this book, even people claiming it was like Harry Potter for adults, and when they had it in the bargain section on amazon, I decided to finally read it. But what a disappointment! I couldn't get in to any of the characters, didn't even like any of them, and was completely bored by the story. When a book is over 800 pages, it better be interesting to get me to read the whole thing, and this was just not. Not at all. Such a let down.

I just finished reading Vector Prime (the first in a 19 book long series about the Yuuzhan Vong War in Star Wars) and actually my brother spilled all the ending spoilers before I even finished the book, so that kinda ruined it further....but I was just a tad disappointed at the ending. I mean, come ON! They killed Chewbacca in that book! There should have been an absolute knockout ending after that tragedy!

Well it wasn't recently, but "The Great Gatsby" was extremely disappointing. I had read "This Side of Paradise" first & was very impressed, I couldn't wait to read Gatsby, his most famous work. "If Paradise was this good Gatsby must be fantastic.", I thought. Boy was I wrong, it's like Fitzgerald just sat down at his typewriter & said, "I am going to write a bestseller!" Gone are his sublteties & depth of character, instead just a shallow shaky reflection of what he was once capable of. But he pulled off what he wanted, he got a bestseller, What tripe. I don't even keep it on my shelf with the rest of my liturature, I put it on the shelf with my wifes cheesey romance novels.

Spook Country by WIlliam Gibson. I had heard about this guy being such a good sci-fi author. This was the first book of his that I read.

Very disappointing. In a word, it sucked. I had to force myself to finish it.

I just finished reading "The Inheritance of Loss" and was really disappointed, especially since it won a Man Booker prize. There were just enough bits of brilliant writing to make me think it was getting better, but then it would be dull again. Not enough plot or character development, I felt. I offered to send it to one of my more literate friends, but she refused it, if that says anything!

I couldn't get past Chapter 3 of "Eragon". Holy LORD was that book awful . . . it's like one of those cheesed up, slapped-togethr fanfics you find on the Internet, but it was gussied up beyond comprehension, bloated to novel length, and mysteriously it became a hug hit. I know I can write better (and write something a lot more original!) so I am currently trying to get my first novel published.

If someone can convince me to finish reading it, I just might.

most of the new v.c andrews books (scatterd leaves) its like they gave up on new ideas and just decided to make the same story over and over again only with different girls who are pretty much the same. Also i read "the great Gatsby" and i was so dissapointed. it was supposed to be all interesting and it was just boring
