I think it is because we are our own worst critics. We can be so overly hard on ourselves. I for one am guilty of that.

Because they see us from the outside, and we see ourselves from the inside.

Everyones values are different, to you it may look bright and shiny, but to others it may be dull. Everything is based on each persons outlook and upbringing. Don't let this get you down its a Godsend that we are all different and see things differently. What would happen if we were all Hitlers?????

We concentrate ourselves everyday so we easily pick up on 'faults' in aspects of our appearance or character.

Other people dont view us in the same scrutinising way because they are'nt looking for faults - they often see us for who we really are because they are able to stand back and form opinions unbiasedly.

maybe it's partly because we have different expectations of ourselves than we do of other people, or than other people do of us, so we judge ourselves by different standards.

It has to do with perception. Each of us are different with regards to brain chemistry. How you view yourself if different from how someone else views you because their perceptions are different.

When others see us they only see verbal and non verbal communication. When we see yourselves, however, we use all our five senses.
