When are we going to take a stand and say, no more? To be held responsible for this massive debt?

Every one on earth claims to support freedom. The problem is so few of them understand the simple meaning of the word.

Act now people before it's too late and we end up with a country we can no longer call the UNITED STATED OF AMERICA.

That will not happen till one of three things goes away.

#1 A roof over our heads
#2 Food on our tables
#3 Freedom from fear

Were close to losing #3, some are losing #1 but not enough and America has abundant food resources. However, we are almost completely dependent on our transportation infrastructure to get it to our markets. If that breaks down, then #2 will surely bring our country down.

All countries are depended on 1 through 3 for their people to be happy. No matter what kind of government or say the people have.

I read a report by the GAO several months ago that showed this war will be PAID IN FULL in nine years at our current rate of taxation. I also read Pres. Bush's numbers, showing that it will be PAID IN FULL in eleven years. All of this of course is going to change when the new president takes office (regardless of who wins). We spend more on welfare and other social programs than we do our defense! Should we take a stand? You bet! I think we should end the institution of slavery (read welfare), and that all elected officials should take an immediate and dramatic cut in pay. It's a gross perversion of the stipend that Franklin recommended making it possible for even the lowliest farmer to hold office and spend time away from home while serving. Let's face it, Hillary and Teddy are NOT hurting for the bucks and neither one has held a legitimate job in decades. In the overall scheme of things, even if they were to fore go their pay for a single year, it wouldn't be noticed in the deficit, but it would speak volumes about where the REALLY stand. Time to pony up and put their money where their mouths are.

Katrina was a cash cow for some and they will continue to suckle as long as the government teat will allow.

The war has so far cost a TRILLION dollars, most of which we have borrowed. There's no way to separate the issue of debt from the issue of the war. The Republicans have granted the rich enormous tax breaks while continuing to run up the national debt. It's long past time to ask why we still think of them as the party of fiscal responsibility.
