Yes I know it is in Harry Potter and yes I am a fan of the books. It also appears in the Odyssey, she is the daughter of Menelaos and Helen of Troy. It is also the name of a Queen in Shakespeare's a Winter's Tale.

Thanks for the suggestion on Taylor Jordyn. However my last name is Jordan, that would sound a little weird. lol. love your answer though.

Wouldn't be my choice because the shortened version is Herm which is also short for Herman. Might end up being cute or something but could backfire also.

What about Taylor Jordyn? that's nice

Jennifer is nice too because there is a short version "Jen", two medium versions, "Jenny and Jenna" and of course the three syllable original.

Your little girl will be so cute and beautiful that she will get along with most any name you give her. And even if you kinda don't like the name at first, you will grow to love it, cause it's your little girl's name....she'll make the name, not the other way round...

good luck and congrats

I like the name. I always have (Im a big fan of the Odyssey and of HP)

I would use it as a middle name though. Like others have said, people will only associate it with the books. When I was younger (Im 24 now) you wouldnt believe how many little girls I baby sat named Ariel and Jasmine. I also live in South Texas and I always remember how long ago Selena (the Tejano/Pop singer) died because of all the little girls named Selena, well, they arent so little now, getting to be teens.
If you use it, people will forever associate it with the books, and she may get sick of people asking her about it (much like my friend Krishna Waterfall gets sick of folks asking if her parents were hippies).

Other than the phenomena of the books, I really love the name. I like the sound of it.

I like it. Your daughter would probably never meet another girl with her name!

For a few years, people will probably think you're crazy and a huge Harry Potter dork (I am too, lol, so don't take that the wrong way). But after everyone forgets the books/movies to some degree, it will just be an interesting, unique name.

I have liked it for years, Pottermaina aside. But any girl with that name will be branded by the books, not by the history of the name.

I dunno...if a child had that name, Harry Potter is all other people would think of, despite your other reasearch. I wouldn't do that...it's really not that pretty of a name.

I always thought it was a cool name. I'm also a fan of the Harry Potter series so maybe I'm biased but I always liked her name and character! :)
