.. I interviewed with them last Tuesday and was called back for a 2nd interview last Thursday. They told me I come highly recommended and gave me the impression that I was the person they were looking for. I was introduced to the whole staff and a few corporate managers.

Anyway, I was told last Thursday that they would contact me "next week" (which is this week) but I haven't heard anything yet and the anticipation is killing me.

Should I give it more time???

This has happened to me several times. I have to say it usually isn't a good sign when they delay getting back to you. There are several possible reasons, here are some that have happened to me...

- There is one person who has to sign off on your hiring and they are being 'slow', either because they aren't sure you are right for the job or because they are just busy with other things. (The person eventually vetoed my getting the job).

- The job opening has been withdrawn due to other business constraints. (happened to me twice, once a hiring freeze happened after my interview, and another time the company was sold)

- They are trying to work out your offer (happened to me several times, they eventually came back with the offer several days later)

You should go ahead and call them today. You have waited long enough that a call would be appropriate, and would show you are interested.

Edit - Remember, there is no real incentive for employers to call you if you DIDN'T get the job.

Managers aren't always in charge of their time. Chances are that something has come up and they are having difficulty getting key people in the plant for your interview. This happens all the time.

However, having said that, I also recommend you continue looking and sending out resumes. That way, if you DO have to call them, you can say that you have to know because you are getting other interviews scheduled, but I would wait until early-mid week.

AND, if the unthinkable should happen and you don't get the job for some reason, then you still have some irons in the fire and it helps minimize the disappointment.

Companies are busy and things are always happening. I once had a company tell me they would contact me in two weeks. Two months later they contacted me and I got the job. At the same time, if you are looking, don't hold your breath because if it does fall through, you're the one without a job.

Try naked yoga. It will help relieve stress and it should keep everyone else distracted from work. They will pretty much stop dealing with work related $hit all together. You still will be miserable due to the lack of alcohol, so you might have to start taking a lot of pills to help ease the pain.
