I react badly to oestrogen and am terrified that I may miss one of my POP's one day and end up pregnant! There's only a 3 hr window in which to take mine.

my bf and I are 19, live together, and both have good jobs but we don't feel ready for children yet.

I can't use any type of condom due to bad reactions, well, i could but it's not pleasant for days afterwards!

You can use depoprovera injections, with use progesterone instead of estrogen. I used the injections since I was 18 (I'm 26 now) but make sure you are aware of the side effects. Progesterone can often make you more irritable than estrogen products, and takes longer for you to get pregnant after using it (compared to estrogen). I went off of it this past december and my periods are really heavy and still not regular. However, I would still recommend the injections because you never get a period, which is incredibly convienient and you never have to worry about messing up or forgetting to take your pills. I loved it compared to other forms of birth control.

There are two that I have the details on; 'Depo-Provera' and 'Noristerat'. The Depo P I told you about before and gives you cover for 12 weeks. The Noristerat gives cover for 8 weeks but may be quite painful as it states it is to be administered 'very slowly' [which may be why its not so popular!]. Note that, although my BNF is quite old, the price for each ampule are £4.55 and £3.00 respectively so it may be worth buying them by private prescription if possible - I don't know about that. The other option you have is an implant but that would need to be discussed with your GP. Take care honey.

Depo-Provera is a progesteron only birth control injection that you receive every 90days. It's fantastic!!

It does have a few side effects, but what is great is that you can try taking it in pill form first to see how you react.

thought that would be of help ;-)

just make sure you understand all the side effects before trying any of these. and if anyone in your family has or is suffering from one of the diseases the pill puts you at risk for (example cancer), i don't think you should take it.

but speak to any doctor and they'll help you. good luck

Please do not go with depo provera. TOO many women have very serious and risky side affects because of it!

Check out the reviews at http://www.rateitall.com/t-330-birth-control-methods.aspx and google "depo provera lawsuit" before you consider depo provera.

I was on it for four years and I'm so glad I'm off of it.
