The questions ask: "I have ever been fired (yes)? Explain." and "Why did you leave" I will tell the truth (poor customer service) but don't know what to say.

An honest one, but you don't need to give them any details. They'll ask if they want more information, but you don't need to fill in the picture for them.

Are you applying for a job as a police officer or just applying for a job? If you are applying for a job then I would answer yes with a note that you will explain the situation upon interview. If you are applying for a job as a police officer then in the application itself I would advise them yes you were and give a full accounting of the events.

In both scenarios I would be honest and tell the truth.

In all the years that I hired both classes of folk, law enforcement and non law enforcement, I offered folk employment that had been fired from previous jobs as long as they were honest and up front about the circumstances of the firing.

Yes or no. If it is yes, then you may be asked to explain the circumstances. Don't lie about it as it could cost you the job later if you do get hired. You usually are required to sign the bottom of the application certifying you have told the truth.

My previous employer and myself mutually agreed that continuation of employment was no longer to the benefit of the company of myself. It was agreed that I should have the chance to seek other opportunities elsewhere.

Yes if it is true. The employer can find out if you are lying....by asking his buddy(your former employer) the next time they have a drink together.

Just, answer honestly.
If it's a major company they will do a background check as well as contact your previous job.
