I am a special education teacher and I love love love Boardmaker http://www.mayer-johnson.com/ProductsList.aspx
You can import your own pictures or use theirs (they have almost everything you'd ever need).
You can also use Microsoft word by starting with a blank page. Up at the top, you should see something that says "insert", and then select "from file." Then you just find your picture, and pick it. It should show up on your blank page. Then, you can click on the corner and change the size of the picture to whatever size you need.
When in doubt, a great source is your child's teacher. If your son uses pictures at school, i'm sure his teacher would be happy to show you how to make pictures, they might even make some for you!
Another little side note: if you print on cardstock, your pictures will be more durable and they will last A LOT longer.
Good luck!

Do you have Microsoft word? You can place pictures into that program. Notepad is text only. I am sure you must have some sort of basic program that lets you use photos... but I would have to look around on your computer for that.
You don't no need no stinkin' computer...
Alternate suggestions!
Go to Kinko's and copy the pictures on a color machine.
Cut pictures out of magazines.
Have your photos printed somewhere and then laminate them at Kinkos.
You can also use contact paper to laminate.
Kinkos has wonderful options for the craft maker...

Have you tried purchasing a 'card' making program? I use Print Shop Delux as well as several other ones and I make all my own cards, stationary, etc. You can get them at any computer store and even in places like WalMart where I purchased my latest updated one on Print Shop. They make calendars, CD labels and just about anything you want to print. I use card stock paper when I do a card. I made Add, Subtract, Multiply, Division cards for my neice a few years ago on mine and used card stock that I clued to posterboard with spray glue and then cut them with my paper cutter. They turned out great because with the program I can use any of their clip art that is in that program to put photos on the cards as well as any style of lettering since it comes with several alphabets. I suggest you give that a try.

Mayer Johnson has a cool software program called Boardmaker. It's kind of pricey ($300) but it's awesome. I use it for social stories, visual cues, flow charts, pecs cards, etc. Our school district has a place where parents can do "make & takes" , plus they offer resources for parents. You may want to call your district and see if they offer any such thing.
Also check out the websites below. Best wishes.

There are sites on the internet that you can download images already made and print them out. One site that I've found helpful is:
