Perhaps the PJ's don't have one to use?

Good idea but then, if you use a lie detector on someone it means you don't believe what they are telling you in the first place. So, morally that would go against the saying "innocent until proven guilty"

I don't agree with Lie Detectors. I much prefer torture! lol..

thumb screws, iron maiden, chinese water torture, the rack, electric wires, nail pulling, being forced to listen to Barbra Streisand, watching Daytime TV or Big Brother... etc etc. Much more effective

Lie detector tests are not foolproof as people can be trained to make their bodies respond in such a way that they can appear to be lying or telling the truth even when they are actually doing the opposite

They are not. Polygraphs are pseudo-science, and more and more legal systems around the world are starting to acknowledge that. At best, they reveal how stressed you are. This may or may not have anything to do with you telling the truth. The whole thing is interpreted by the operator, which makes it an art rather than a science and therefore unsuitable for forensic use. It has been demonstrated time and again that a good actor can fool a polygraph with ease. (I can myself!)

Actually polygraph test results are more like 98% subjective. They should not be allowed in court proceedings.

If you've ever heard the expression "Sweat it out of him...", i.e. placing someone under enough duress that they say whatever you want them to, that's how the polygraph works.

I think people only take lie detector tests when they are suspects for something.
