All I have to say is: FAMILY ROADTRIP!!

I need movies, and many of them, and I need your help.

I'm really into romance, but I also like comedy, and some action and scfi.

Any good ones you know of? Thanks!

If you're going on a family roadtrip, I absolutely have to recommend the under-appreciated "The Straight Story".

It's G-rated (I know, I know!), and it's not the kind of movie that I would normally give 3 seconds of attention to, but I saw this in the theater when it first came out, and I haven't seen a film like this before or since.

Richard Farnsworth stars as Alvin Straight, a long-isolated 73-year old codger, who learns that his brother has suffered a stroke, hundreds of miles away.

Directed by David Lynch, and co-starring Sissy Spacek and Harry Dean Stanton, this really is a must-see, and appropriately related to a family road trip.

Straight Story isn't a comedy or a drama, really. It's serious, sweet and moving.

I'm sure you'll get long lists of better-known and more action-packed or hilarious films, but I really hope you take the time to see this one, too. You won't select this "answer" as the best answer, but you'll thank me for recommending the film.

Have a great trip!

If you are into romance here are some great ones that are not that old and not hard to find:

Message in a Bottle - Kevin Costner GREAT movie
City of Angels - Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan
Autumn in NY - Richard Gere & Winona Ryder awesome
Titanic

Comedy wise there are just so many but here are a few OLD ones you may have missed that are hysterical. Mel Brooks is a genius:

History of the World Part I - classic and HYSTERICAL Gregory Hines, Dom Deluise, Sid Caesar, and more.

Spaceballs
Robin Hood Men in Tights
Norbit - Eddie Murphy

Castaway - Tom Hanks good movie
Sci Fi I dont like that much but Alien vs. Predator was good

depending on your age I would recommend childrens movies like "The Princess Bride," "Hocus Pocus," and "The Goonies." For the older audiences ie. Dad get a movie like "The Quiet Man," or "Cool Hand Luke." For the college age get movies like "Vanilla Sky," "True Romance," and "Garden State."
