This message is of extreme importance to everyone who is at all interested in politics and government in America.

The single most remarkable thing about this country has been its proud tradition of an orderly transfer of power. The elections are the most honest and fair in the world. To suggest otherwise is unamerican. There are plenty of banana republics in the world which have elections followed by street riots and assassinations. This is what happens when people loose confidence in the election process.

There was no voter fraud in any American election that has ever been proven. Anyone can allege anything. That does not make it so. In the districts in which the accusations of irregularities were being made in Florida, are predominately Democrat controlled districts. All of the election officials were appointed by Democrat politicians precicely because they are reliable, grassroots Democrats.

They are the ones who selected the ballots, selected the machines, provided security, worked the polls etc. If there were any mistakes made due to the structure of the ballots, the Democrats are the ones responsible!

The rules clearly state that only the votes, properly cast will count. That applies to both sides. If anyone voted for the wrong candidate because they misread the ballot, once that ballot is cast it is counted, end of story. If they punched out too many chads, the ballot is invalid.

Failing to accept the fact that your particular candidate lost and making unsubstanciated claims of fraud is very unhealthy for our Nation. Our National Unity is more important than any single election. Believe me, if there really was any actual proof of fraud the Democrats would have had the culprits arrested and tried. It would have been their civic duty to do so. But to just keep up this drumbeat of allegations is not healthy. Not healthy at all.

Maybe. You can actually do something about though. You can call or email your Congressperson and ask them to support HR 811, which is a bill to require a voter-verified paper ballot to print with the computerized voting machines. It's not the best solution: I'd prefer the things banned altogether but it's a start...

It really helps to be actively engaged in what is your government in theory. Try volunteering at your local voting station if you have time, helping at the tables or doing exit polls.

UNLESS Congress can be HONEST enough to prevent it in time, almost certainly. It's already been done to us in 2000, and 2004, both times sticking us with the WORST president in all American history, and doing grievous (and probably permanent) damage to the country.

For 2004, see the report linked below.

The solution: **REQUIRE** that ALL electronic tallies be regarded only as *preliminary*, and be VERIFIED by a hand-count of paper ballots generated at the same time the electronic vote was cast, before becoming official. No matter HOW overwhelmingly lopsided an electronic tally may SEEM to be.

A 14-year-old can hack Diebold's machines. Anyone who doesn't think a political party wouldn't take advantage of that needs to see me about a nice bridge that I can sell them.

Edit: IMPORTANT!! Please see "contrarycrow's" answer!!

Well, don't you think it odd that independent, international election scrutineers are NOT allowed to scrutinize US elections even though the US votes for their use in other countries?

Beware the all pervasive power of big business.

I see the left is already gearing up for a GOP victory. Lord knows it has to be rigged devices and not the fact most people do not like your platform. If it was your platform you might have to think about changing it to actually reflect what America wants.

thats exactly why the dems made all that mess about that election, so now they planted a seed of doubt of all the pea-brained americans out there. to drum up support so everytime they lose an election, it must have been the evil republicans cheating again. sounds very childish to me, but they are libs so there ya go.

Yes, but what can be done?
We pushed to get paper trails in Florida for the '08 elections.
The Palm Beach County Democrats are still mad as
hornets about the hanging chads from years back.
Unfortunately, we now have a Democrat as our Supervisor
of Elections. Republicans are now screwed in this county.

Of course.

The power brokers of the United States and the business world don't leave something as important as the Presidential election of the United States up to chance!

We are given the choice of a Democrat Imperialist and a Republican Imperialist.
Two heads of the same coin!

Just look at every President since Woodrow Wilson!!
Nearly 100% Imperialists.

Nope. Too many checks and balances. I am a poll worker and the stuff that we have to do is almost as annoyingly redundant as airport security.

You should be more grateful for the most honest and reliable election system in the world.

Only if the GOP wins, If the DNC wins you'll accept the outcome.

Sarcasm

Few elections are rigged in this country. (Miami being one area that is in doubt)
