Its weird I keep hoping to get an idea on what they think of a certain topic when I look up some questions here but I have never really seen a solid answer from them. Its just mostly ranting and them making a crack at someone.
To the liberals "Can you guys actually answer rather than just rant? I'd actually like to read what you think of things"

Half of the answers on this question proved my point. Most of that were attacks to me, had nothing to do with the question, defusing the question or just ranting about conservatives.

First off, don't lump all liberals together. That would be like me making a generalized statement such as "All Conservatives site false sources to justify their arguments." See what I mean? Doesn't apply to all of you.

PS. If you are using Y!a to find actual intelligent arguments about politics and religion you are in the wrong place. I'd guess that 75% of the people cruising those catagories are only there to piss people off. I've watched some switch back and forth on subjects just to do that.

I'm conservative. I try to make sure that I directly answer any question, even if I toss in a little clowning.

But when I've asked questions (okay, they tend to be a little loaded), I have to plea with the liberals to focus on the question and answer it...I'd say 7% are capable of doing that. Most responses have nothing to do with the question.

Just the same, I think the liberals are good fun, and this place would be boring without them.

I have noticed the same from the Conservatives on YA. Maybe it is just the forum format that causes this to happen.

You mention not solid answers. I have to laugh as I have asked about discussing REAL issues and the cons run from that kind of discussion like the plague. They would rather make personal attacks on candidates with little or no chance of getting elected like John Edwards or they make statements, accusations or charges that go unproven with no citations or links. Many cons seem to see the world in black and white, right or wrong, my way or the highway. Because it doesn't fit with their narrow view of the issue they condemn it rather than realizing that there may actually be a valid opposite viewpoint. Those with opposing view points are seen as traitors or unAmerican by these narrow minded people. They just can't see beyond the black and white world they live in. They don't understand that dissent and disagreement are what democracy thrives on. While they don't openly advocate totalitarianism their criticism of those who disagree with them and referring to them as unpatriotic etc. plays into the hands of any would be dictator as in a totalitarian state dissent and differenc of opinion are not tolerated. One must march in lockstep and fully agree with fearless leader or "disappear" never to be seen again.

I don't find that to be the case at all, I find that there are plenty of poor sports on both sides of the fence that are incapable of engaging in appropriate debate. Asking a very pointed question as you are now is only going to bring out those types of people only looking to take a jab at the other side. In fact observe how many answers on both sides are complaints about the other side.

I do however enjoy the irony in your question and am perhaps being a little facetious in pointing out that you are making a negative generalization about an entire group of people being negative.

Yes I have noticed that some stray away from answering the question . I often find that in reading some answers though that questioners lack the ability to accept or understand some of the answers . Take conservatives for instance . They claim to be conservative and yet are truly as liberal as anyone could be . They want to interfere in every aspect of your life from cradle to grave . Added to the cost of everything I purchase are their hidden taxes and services they protect . In order for anyone to do anything you first need a permit and then you need a bond ,surety or insurance , these are purchased not from the government but private industry . So to get my government permit or license I must also pay private industry for the right to compete in a so called free market which makes starting a company a major investment . So much for people being allowed to sell their products as they wish . The minimum one must have is a vendors license and along with that you must declare all the income from such sales and then provide the taxes to the government you are required to collect . Conservatives felt it was in the best interests of everyone concerned that they take over running and licensing everything for our own good . On top of that they insist that we conduct our lives according to a moral code which they adopt directly from a religious philosophy practiced by many but which is suppose to be separate from the government . I find it most alarming that I should be subjected to the rules of someone else's God and forced to live under laws derived from that God in a free nation . Conservatives are the same today as they where 300 years ago . Nothing has changed and controlling the ability of others to operate freely is what they do best . If I believed in a God I would ask him to have mercy upon the souls of those who have made it their business to tell others how to live and worse then that ,fixed the game so that ordinary people must struggle day in and day out not to be paid the proper wage for their work but rather a wage determined to meet the basic survival needs of millions of people . Being forced to hand over a large percentage of your earnings first to the government and then to meet the laws conservatives love to pass which take your money it is no wonder that we have a large number of people dissatisfied with how conservatives have manipulated and controlled this nation . I hate what conservative has come to mean because in my book I am a true conservative . One who would not waste his time or energy passing laws and paying for there enforcement in the community but would allow people the freedom to do as they wish . This is conservativeness at its best and what its become in the hands of christians is just abhorrent in my view .

I think most people on YA don't answer the question and just spend time ranting or take the opportunity to go into a diatribe about something completely unrelated regardless of their political affiliation. I think they must have stopped teaching reading comprehension in schools. Additionally, some people don't care to know what the other side thinks and just jump out there with a knee jerk reaction without really thinking about the question. I'm only somewhat liberal on certain social issues but I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.

Now you see why Air America is maintained on life support alone and conservative talk/information venues are so successful? If you can't support your position with rational thinking, folks are going to tune you out. Take almost any issue popular with liberals and their support will consist of, "Because people are suffering." That's pretty much it. But when you point out the facts as to why they're 'suffering' or point out the fact that their 'crisis' is significantly over blown or how the liberal solution won't stop that suffering and create a solution worse than the problem, it goes right over their heads.

They're like the three little monkeys. Hear no reality, see no reality, speak no reality.

I'm not sure if I would classify myself as a liberal, but here's some of my thoughts:

I think we should have our troops take a poll on wether or not they believe Iraq has weapons of mass destruction, how capable they are of making them, and what more the Iraqi people may need from us. We should have the Iraqi people take a vote on wether or not they want us to stay or if they want us to go now. It is their country after all, and then voting here in the U.S. for who takes office in 08' wouldn't be so focused on the candidates plans for Iraq.

libs are alot quicker to just make fun of you rather than prove their point right and yours wrong on the topics at hand. plus, you will more often see conservatives using facts and evidence backing up their reasoning than you will libs. i like the saying "if you are conservative at age 20 you have no heart, if you are a liberal at age 40 you have no brain". i guess i must have no heart, as i would consider myself a conservative and i am 22, but im sure glad i do have a brain.

Amen to that!

(Scenario)

How old are you?

"It's all Bushes fault".

What time is it?

"I can't believe those neo-con are stealing time these days".

After reading these answers on here, you just described some of them fully like delphi, sunshine and Anti-Shiraz all did exactly as you said and then there were those that defused the question by saying they didn't understand the question or asked if you were trolling.

Now Chicago Dan has the right idea. I liked his answer. You might want to consider his as the best answer.
