I have several. I used to have a friend named "Birgit" (pronounced pretty much like beer gut). Fortunately, she was skinny.

I read the name "Mungo" in a baby names book.

I had a friend who named her baby DeEgra. Eww.

Juaquahan...pronounced "John"...fortunately I asked him how to spell it before I wrote it down (in my simple mind, expecting John or Jon).... he gave me a funny look, but spelled it anyway.

I have a couple of friends who have named a son Anakin...

and my mother named me

Marielana Graszia Ileana Vanescia Zehanderoverhi

I think she didn't like me...what do you think?

Yes, I'm serious. That is the name I suffered 18 years with until I got rid of it... give or take a z somewhere, sometimes I can't remember how to spell it and have to go look it up, and I'm just too lazy. Those were all aunts, married to my father's uncles...supposed to have money. It didn't work.

I can't necessarily say this is a strange name because it belongs to my brother...He is named after my grandfather and my father...my father being junior, so my brother is the 3rd...from birth, his nic-name has been Twig. My Dad always said he was 'a twig off the ole' family tree'.
