I only paid about £500 less than that to have mine (similar set up) installed nearly FIFTEEN years ago.
So, no - £3000 is not a lot.

My mate did mine. A combi, dependent on size, is going to be between £850 and £1350. Rads say £50 a pop. Towel rail £75'ish, then you have all the pipe work and labour, so no, I think it's about reasonable as long as he does a good job. Bet he doesn't do it as fast as Brian though, 14 rads, towel rail, 150 metres of piping, combi boiler and connecting up to an oil tank, 2 1/2 days. Brilliant and no problems. Do you want me to send him round!

It is cheap, you will only be getting a 12 months gaurantee, 2 years at most, this means the installer is not approved by the manufacturer he boiler they are installing, the water quality has to be right on completion for the gaurantee, (less than ph 8, I bet he hasn't even got a ph test meter), a room thermostat and thermostatic radiator valves have to be installed by law (one rad without trv for interlock), best boilers are Worcester Bosch and Vaillant (especially if installer is approved by them), the system has to be powerflushed, ask the installer which flushing machine they use, which ph tester they use and their corgi registration number, ask if they are approved by the manufacturer, if the answer to all is yes, I will be very surprised, I will be even more surprised if the answer is yes and they can show you, If the answer is yes but they don't turn up, that would not surprise me.

Certainly not overpriced.
You could pay a bit more.
Just make sure that boiler is of a good make and the pipe fittings are of good quality and the job is done by a reputable corgi guy

a lot depends on exactly what you are getting ..unfortunately you are the average person to ask a question and as such you tell us nothing !..tell us what type of boiler ..rads ..bath ..etc and then we can give a more sensible answer based on years of experience in the trade ..but on the face of it and knowing no facts then it does sound dear ....did it include vat?

It would depend on the house. How is it currently heated? Baseboard? If they have to run all new duct, yes, it is going to be a lot more expensive than if it were to just replace a unit.
Get another quote to be sure.
