i am a big fan of tim burton and his work. my favourites are the nightmare before christmas corpse bride edward scissorhands and all the other films. I especcially like the movies where he works with danny elffman- a great composer. I like these movies so much that i want to decorate my roon the style that they are in. But the problem is that i live in bulgaria and i haven't seen any things with the characters from the movies on them. So i'll have to improvise. PLease tell me some cool ideas on how to decorate my room by the styles the movies are. Oh and i'm 14 so they musn't be very expencive. :)

Just watch all his films and think about how to decorate your room Burtonesque.

We are working on this for my granddaughter. There are several deep shades of gray paint. Go to Lowe's and check out the paint chips. We're thinking about the darker gray on the ceiling and the next shade lighter on the walls. She has a bed with a frame for a canape. We are using black sheers and draping them back. On the window, we are painting a black triangle in the two top corners to give the window an arched look. We've been searching for paper or gel stickers to make a stained glass window. If we can't find what we want, we'll paint the design on the window. She has a lot of Jack Skellington kitsch to sit around. She collects weirdly shaped colored bottles. She also has wall art that's appropriate. We've talked about doing a faux finish on her door, but haven't pursued it. Something to make it look distressed without damaging the wood. We are changing the door knob to one more suitable to the look. There is an antique store nearby that had scads of household bits and pieces for sale. Boxes and boxes of door knobs. Visit your local antique stores and browse. You'd be surprised at the things you can find. Small things that add subtly to the room but don't whack you over the head. Kenneth Brown decorated a kitchen with a goth look on one of his HGTV shows. Little touches made all the difference.

I'm no interior designer, but you could start with some posters of movies like "Edward Scissorhands", "Beetlejuice", "The Nightmare Before Christmas" or "Sleepy Hollow." When it comes to things like bed spreads and decorations, black and white should be your dominate colors. Hot Topic probably carries a lot of stuff you could use.

See if you can find a book by Voltaire.. (the musician NOT the writer of Candide).. There are LOTS of ideas!

Everything from making custom picture frames out of found objects, to decorating walls without paint.. even making creepy dolls.. this link is for Amazon, but I know it's been sold at hot topic as well.. (that's where I got mine).. it's pretty cheap as I recall, and all the projects are done with a limited budget in mind.

Also I recommend these bands:

The Cure

Siouxsie and the Banshees (who worked with Elfman on Batman Returns)

Oingo Boingo (Elfman's band)

The 69 Eyes

Bauhaus

Buy different dolls...dress them up in darker clothes and change their faces.Add scares, stitches, darker eyes.Change/swap arms, legs, and heads.Add kitchen utensils to some parts.Maybe be too creepy for me,but a good way to discover your creativity and own style, and a good way to honor him
