I went back at 40 and became a sonographer. It was the best decision of my life. My question is, why go for a B.S. in sonography? It will not pay you any more than an A.A.S degree will and you will have spent an extra year (and money). I would say get your Assoc., spend some time learning the art of sonography and then if you still want your B.S degree you can go back or get in online from Univ. of Ark.

Hi,
So you are not happy with your career choice. Well first, I would ask myself is it my career choice or is it the business I work for? Secondly, if a career change is already in store, I would definitely think about my career before jumping back into school.
Please excuse me, but it sounds like you have been undecided before. Just be careful not to be a "career student".
Lastly, you are not that old. Even at 27, you're still young compared to the national quota on education. I have been in the computer industry since 1994, and I went back to school to finish my degree this past June. I am currently 34 and began my degree in 1991.
I would say get a plan and stick to it. Good luck in your decision.

Good for you! Kudos for recognizing that you're not happy nor fulfilled where you are and having the motivation to get more education, so you can travel down a new path. I was a para pro in special ed for many years (love kids, and the hours were perfect for a military wife!), before finally deciding to get the degree I always wanted. I started college at 36, going very part time, and this fall at 40 will have an AA degree. You're never too old to learn something new!

It is definitely NOT a silly idea! You should definitely go back to school & get you're degree! 3 years of schooling will go by in no time & before you know it, you'll have a degree in sonography & be able to go to work everyday doing what you love. Best wishes to you!

My dear, I was 26 before I even started college. Twenty seven isn't old, but I can remember when I thought it was. At 27, you will still have roughly 35 to 40 more years in the work force. It better be something you love, or you will be miserable all your life.

Go back to school. It is never to late and you are better to go back to school while you are still young. 23 and 27 is still young to be going to school. If you think you are to old why don't you take a tour at a college. You might be surprised that their are older people their too to learn.

i'm almost 40 and i try new stuff all the time!
its never too late to try to be HAPPY. my only advice would be to make sure you maintain employment in the mean time. everyone i know that goes back to school dives in head first, but usually doesnt think too much about having a job in the mean time. will it be hard, yeah, probably. but you need cash during the time you go back to school.

it's absolutely not silly! if that's something you want to do you should go for it now or whenever is best for you. talk to an advisor at the school you apply to and see if some of your credits from before might count towards your new degree. good luck!!
