I would do just what it says. Over sud-sing is when the machine would over flow with soap bubbles. A big mess to clean up. :)

You don't need to use a lot of detergent to clean your clothes. Trust me, they make detergent really strong.

Oversudsing is when you have way too much soap in the machine and it creates too many suds. In those cases, when you open the washer at the end of the cycle, your clothes will still have soap on them because the rinse cycle cannot get rid of all the excess soap you put in the machine.

Or, if you have a top loading machine, it could overflow and you'll have soap all over the floor.

Stick to what the instructions on the washer say. 1/4 cup is more then enough for a big load of clothes. Use less for smaller loads.

It means do not put over 1/4 cup of detergent.

If u put over 1/4 cup u got a big mess to clean up.

U have to much soap in the machine.

Your clothes will get clean.

Oversudsing means suds created by the soap and water will become more than the washer can handle and it will overflow.

But, I guess you're right. All those chemical engineers who get paid real big bucks to research these issues and come up with recommendations like 1/4 cup don't really know what they're doing. You go right ahead and use however much you want.

How old is your machine? I haven't seen one that says on the washer how much soap to use. I go by what the soap says on the box or bottle. They are low sudsing washing detergent now. I don't think they get that many suds anymore to over-suds. All detergent says low sud-sing, watch as when they are washing, very low suds if any at all.

1/4 cup detergent seems a little too little. I suppose you could get concentrated detergent.

Oversudsing is when the bubbles leak out of the washing machine. It has happened to me and it's not fun.

Oversudsing is what happens when you add a cup of soap when the directions say add 1/4 cup. The soap suds will overflow your washing machine, and it will not be able to remove all the soap in the rinse cycle. Your clothes will still have soap in them after washing, causing rashes when worn.

I would follow the manufature's advice. You don't want to have to always re-wash your clothing.. If you are really worried about your clothing coming out clean you can add 1/2 C. of regular baking soda to the wash water it doesn't add suds and it gets rid of dirt, grime and odors... It's cheap and you can use less detergent... Good luck

I would follow the directions on the back of your laundry detergent. On the bottle caps they have lines so you know how much detergent to put in. Fill to the top for large loads, fill to the middle for smaller loads. However, if you have soft water you need to use even less detergent.

Watch the episode of the Brady Bunch where Bobby puts his clothes in the washer and adds the whole box of soap! That will show you what oversudsing is!

to much soap compared to the amount of water your washer will clean with. the washer will not be able to clean off more than 1/4 cup of soap and will leave your clothes soapy. once you dry them with the soap on them they could make you itch or cause a rash. buy the concentrated soap.
