I work as a receptionist. I have a big problem, I just found out I might have made a double booking for the busiest weekend in our town. Meaning these people might not have accommodation. How do I tell my boss this without bursting into tears? I am so nervous, please help

First, make sure whether or not this has happened,
theres no point confessing all to your boss if theres no problem

if it turns out there is, just explain things calmly, and explain that you didnt mean to make the mistake (if it was your fault) and say it wont happen again?
and maybe try to find alternate places for these people to stay?

Are you kidding? I think you might be using this site for a crutch more than an occasional resource for help.

If you just found out about the mistake, then simply tell your boss about it and what would be the best way to resolve the issue. People make mistakes, it's a natural process of learning.
Now I can appreciate you're nervous, but suffering through something and compounding the issue doesn't help. You're digging yourself into a deeper hole.
Deal with the moment before you start crying, biting your nails, chewing on your hair or rocking back and forth in your chair saying "I'm a baaaad girl."

Realaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaax. Deep breaths.
Go tell your boss. Right now.

You have to relax and understand that you're not the only person in history to make a mistake. FIRST make sure you made the double booking before you get upset. Take a deep breath and walk into his/her office and say I'm VERY SORRY and explian the situation. Take responsibility and I'm sure he/she will understand. The big question is when is the event, and you never know there can always be cancelations. Nothing is ever written in stone. But taking responsibility for your mistake will go a lot further than just NOT saying anything at all. Good Luck=)

You do this by remembering "Honesty is the best policy"..

Don't wait !!!!! As soon as possible approach your boss and be honest with him. Even if you cry it is okay, just be honest. See if you can make other accommodations for one of the groups of people. This isn't life or death; this is just a mistake and they happen sometime!

Don't be nervous. Just explain the situation and calmly search the online travel sites for available rooms. There has to be a room out there. You may even try contacting the hotels directly, explaining your situation and ask them to notify you of any last minute cancellations. It will all work out.

Everyone makes mistakes. I would quickly tell your boss the situation and be up front with him and admit your mistake. Then make every effort to fix the problem.

The worst scenario is probably you will be harshly reprimanded.

This mistake is not serious enough to get u sacked.

Dun worry, just admit your mistake and offer to make amendments.

Be cool about it

own up to your mistake. take a deep breath and know everyone messes up at some point.
maybe try and think of a solution before talking to your boss, that way you are owning up to it and taking responsibility to try and fix it.
take a deep breath, everyone makes mistakes.
