That sounds like the iPod Shuffle, but you need to be more specific.
You need to go to the Apple support page and select your operating system and iPod model. All I can do is refer you to that site, since I have no clue what model or system you use.

if you can't reset it you should make an appointment via apple.com for your local apple store... a tech ther can run a diagnostic and find out what's wrong with it.
they can either fix it in house, replace it if under warranty, or send it to be fixed...
