Why is it that so many people just want to say something and don't for fear of repercussions? Why aren't people HONEST anymore. Instead of butt kissing and fibs, why can't someone just say "dearest, yes that dress makes you look fat, lets find something flattering for ya instead" without the other person getting ticked off.

To address the feelings thing. I am sick of always watching out for other people's feelings. Good gads I could say ACHOO and someone will be ticked that another said God Bless You.
Why is it no one wants to just say hey, your butt is big, get over ir or go to the gym, or yes your butt is still big BUT you can tell that you have been to the gym... true compliment on the second one but ya think the person would recognize it NO.
TOO much is placed on touchy feely oh I feel wonderful about myself.

I am tactful and do not go out of my way to be borish, but when is enough enough?
Little kids not able to keep score cause their feelings will get hurt. Little brats whining about playing tag at recess. Sorry, if you dont want to play move your butt to the swing set.
A nation of crybabies is being born and people are saying brash is BAD.
When are people going to suck it up?

There is a difference between brash and saying poo breath.
Brash is just putting something out there... poo breath is just insulting.
I dont go out of my way to insult but I refuse to be touchy feely nice.
White lies are still lies. Apparently some will never understand it.

A couple reasons. People think they are being more considerate by telling white lies. Truth is, they just probably aren't creative enough to figure out a good way to tell the truth in a kind way.
As for butt kissing, some people think that's the only way or the best way to make it up the ladder. I work for one of these people, and unfortunately it seems to be working for him. Even though most everyone knows he's a "fake it till you make it."
My husband is actually pretty darn truthful. He'll tell me something looks bad and suggest something else. It might sting for a minute, but I'm thankful for not walking out the door looking like crap.

Well when someone asks you, "Do I look fat in this dress?", they are expecting you to say something to make them feel better about themselves. Perhaps they are insecure about their weight and they are looking for someone to say something assuring that will help them go out and face society. THat is why psychology is not a hard science. Its about "feelings" not always "facts". If someone is obese, there no outfit that is going to make them look thin. So, why dont we say things that make them feel good on the inside since there is nothing that is going to change on the outside.
I completely agree with what you are saying, though. There are other things we can say that can do the same trick. You can say, "Its not the dress that makes you drop dead gorgeous, its that great smile that 'wows' the crowd". I guess its the art of assurance that we must master, not the quick flattering comment...

Most self acclaimed outspoken people are immature, self righteous, impulsive, intolerant and some thing more and seem to be carrying the heavy burden of other's issues without their authorization and need.A mature outspoken person shall give his frank and honest opinion when asked or if really warranted, and do so in a polite and tactful manner, remembering that he also stands corrected. Just think, what do you achieve or gain by saying,"dearest, yes that dress makes you look fat".Nothing except a smug satisfaction of being an outspoken person(actually an idiot). This is supported by many studies in various countries and in different social environments.Otherwise also, sounds as simple common sense.Sorry to differ but this is the reality.

One day, and I guarantee this will happen, you will need someone to tell you a white lie to get you through, to make you feel better about yourself.
By your question I can tell you are:
Brash
Ignorant
Inconsiderate
Rude
Uncaring
Uncharitable
Selfish
Self-centred
Patronising
and...of course....
You get kciks out of other people's misery.
Oh, I suspect you are really ugly and you bum is either too fat or too skinny, you have a pizza face complexion and you smell of stale wee.
Oh!! Now I feel better already!!!!
(tee hee)
Never forget - people tell white lies usually to protect themselves from confrontation, rather than not upset the other person. We are all fundamentally selfish, poo breath.

You're the kind of friend ,i like. I'm the same. I don't pacify people . I don't know why people are so emotional about everything. Isn't honesty the best policy.
