Most insect sprays act by interfering with the firing of the nervous system - either by blocking the receptors so that the nerves cannot be cleared, or by over-exciting the nerves so they continually fire.

This is identical to the way nerve gas works on humans.

So anyone who has been hit with nerve gas would die in almost exactly the same fashion as a fly that's been hit with fly spray.

Insect sprays act by blocking the insect's spiracles (breathing aparatus). Therefore, it would be like suffocating.
