The first reason is to protect the child from being born to a woman who is unable or unwilling to care for it. It could be abandoned or abused by her if she is irresponsible or prevented by her situation or personal weakness from doing what is necessary for the child.
The second reason is to protect the mother if the pregnancy would cause her to become ill or to die or if it would cause her to be abused, killed or driven out (depending on the social context).
Then there is society to consider. In places where adults are dying of AIDS and children of starvation, bringing more babies into the environment is not a helpful act.

first of all, personal choice. if you don't want a child, then act accordingly. other good reasons:
1. not everyone is cut out to be a parent. it's a huge responsibility considering the molding and shaping of another human being is involved.
2. financial - it's expensive to provide properly for a child
3. risk. some people carry genes that could be passed on with horrible consequences
4. toll on the body. pregnancy changes the woman's body.
5. lifelong commitment. never again will you be free because you will always be a parent. there are good things that go along with that, but there are also negative things. not everyone has a strong healthy child and its very very hard to watch your child struggle.

you will get some good answers on this question!

1)The first one is that there are far too many humans on the planet at this time, and really, that should be enough.

2)Pregnancy is a dangerous time for a woman of any age, especially these days with the medical profession (or i should say some of the members) putting the selling of their services as surgeons ahead of the welfare of the woman and her child.

3)The religious prohibitions are well over a thousand years out of date, and the churches fear of change is culpable in this.
4) There are personal reason a-plenty for most young people, financial, emotional and secular.
5)Enough?

The justification to preventing pregnancy is that, at a particular point in time, a female does not believe she is mentally, emotionally, physically, or financially able to deliver and raise a child.

Not having the physical, mental, emotional or financial capacity to devote to a child for the next 18 years. I'm Mormon, so I'm very pro-children, but let's be realistic. Not everyone has the ability for whatever reason to be a parent to multiple children. I stopped at 2 because my son was SO high maintainance (colic, ADHD, anxiety, sleep disorders) that I didn't feel I could divide my time up with him with a 3rd child. Two is a great number and my family is perfect just like it is. He is no longer high maintainance, but that ship has sailed for me.

Better to prevent a pregnancy than bring unwanted children into the world.

Not wanting to have children
Not being ready to have children, financially, socially (age & maturity, relationship stability), emotionally.

Any reasons for not wanting to be pregnant are acceptable justifications. Quite frankly, I don't feel that anyone needs to justify his or her choice in this matter.

If one or both parents isn't financially or emotionally ready to have a child. It's a huge responsibility and a drain on the parents -- it takes a LOT of money and time and energy to raise one! For many people, the benefits of childrearing outweigh these drawbacks, but not for all.

You don't need a reason. It's better to prevent an unwanted pregnancy than to have to make a hard choice once it's happened.
