I found Dasher crossing a major intersection by himself. I thought that he may get hurt so I took him in. I used to put leaves in the closet where Dasher used to stay and when he went out for walks, I would place a tiny little hat over him. Just enough to block the sun.
I returned him later to a peaceful woods, Should I have kept him and taken care of him forever or was this better for him?

Wild animals need to be free, it drives them crazy when they are captive. Its not fair on them.

You did the right thing for Dasher. He is probably happier in the woods with the other turtles. Hope he has a good supply of food and water.

I think you did the right thing. You played the role of the "good samaritan". Now Dasher can reunite with his kin like Dancer and Prancer and Comet and Vixon on to Cupid and Donner and and Blitzen. But do you recall the most famous turtle of all, Rudolfo the green horned turtle?

Not to be mistaken with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They are a different clan.

Funny you say that... I used to have a turtle called "valentina"...

... you need to know a bit of italian to understand that the name means "she who goes slowly"... an appropriate name for a turtle, I thought!

As for your Dasher, I would have kept him, but he is probably happy where he is, too!

good you returned him because then you would be stretched too thin between the wife and the sister and the teddy and dasher !
the forces of jealousy would be too much !

You did the right thing. I had a turtle I found trying to go out into the street also. I named it "Natalie" because it was in front of Natalie Estates. We had another one named "Wheelie" that my husband found under the wheel of his truck.

Hope there was some water near by. You do know they have to have water, right? The hat WAS a nice touch, though.
