the belt is probably loose so when an adult size person weight is on it it will sometimes slip.

I wouldn't want to buy that treadmill. Sounds like the heavier you are the worse it'll sound.

If they are giving it to you, go for it, and see what needs worked on, tighten everything up.

I'd just try to get a new one, or one that isn't choppy.

Yes your friend is fat if the treadmill is choopy. Everytime they take a step, they are stopping the belt momentarily. The whole point of a treadmill is that you help it move with your steps, not fight against the motion with your steps.

They want to pawn it off on to you? It might be broken, thanks to tubby pants. Maybe they should keep it for their kid so he or she doesn't grow up fat as the parents.
