Oh...holding the door to the truck for a woman; removing the hat indoors out of respect; keeping the boots polished and off the furniture; and using a coaster for that beer... Oh. And setting a good example- as a manly man- for the younguns to emulate.

The Marlboro/Toothpick Man without the smokes and using a toothpick instead.
This type of man doesn't have to be a cowboy but a soldier, fireman, policeofficer, doctor, construction worker, miner, fisherman any field that a man holds as long as he is rugged looking and forget the beer!

Walking down the street with your pants hanging down with a $300 pair of gym shoes and a $200 hoodie and a wife beater underneath and I doo rag on the head with a bottle of gin and juice wrapped in a brown paper bag.
Now that my friend is a real man. An urban man!

Depends. Can you drink 20 beers without puking? And drive really fast with one hand while you're drinking them? And hop the curb with your truck to hit something, just because it moved? And then take the cops on a high-speed chase with only three tires functioning? I know two guys who can do all this, and believe that this makes them REAL men.
'Course, both are doing time now ... with other REAL men.

Not all country music is like that. But I get EXACTLY what you mean. It's because people who live in a culture where country music is popular do those kinds of things. It's everyday life to them.

Chopping firewood in a flannel shirt, jeans, and hiking boots with a double-bladed axe.
Chuggin' beer isn't manly. It's adolescent. Men know how to enjoy a quality beer.

I agree with "havanadig" first and foremost, but also to me a man who is hard at work..I love a man who has his shirt off or on..it doesn't matter..with a tool belt strapped around his waist, work boots and a hard hat.......to me that is the "manliest"... :) and still has time for his wife/significant other and children at the end of a long hard day.......
