Its way early in this whole process, remember, the candidates in both parties started way earlier than usual, he has plenty of time.
PS. Some of you act as though last night was the last debate, theres plenty more to go folks.

Well, for one thing, have yo ever seen Fred Thompson on Leno or Letterman before? You know, promoting some movie he "starred" in? Of course not, he never was a "Star". He's a B List actor who never had more than a couple minute screen time in anything he's ever been in. He was truly excited to finally have a reason to even BE on a Talk Show. So that's a no brainer. Why appeal to the voter in a debate, why let them know where you stand on the issues, when you can spend 12 minutes on Free TV, yukking it up with Jay Leno, the laziest interviewer in TV history?
His idea of reality has absolutely no connection with the average US working man.
I have seen a LOT of Conservative based questions in here which all boil down to, "If we elect Hillary Clinton, countries which don't respect women (such as most in the Middle East) won't take us seriously". Do these same questioners also wonder how electing a bit part actor to America's highest office would look to the world? It would ONLY say how the US sure doesn't take Democracy very seriously, that their motto, told to every child in America growing up, is, "Anyone in this country can grow up to be President of the United States", but in almost 250 years, the only ones ALLOWED to actually be President are rich, old, diseased, white men, with no relationship and therefore no EMPATHY for the plight of the working family in the US.
Republicans, you really need to start taking Democracy seriously and stop sending in actors to do Statemans' jobs. We have too many important issues facing this country, to be led by someone who is completely unqualified for the job but LOOKS vaguely "Presidential". Are there NO intelligent, sensitive, empathetic, concilliatory Republicans willing to step up to the plate? Ones with military experience and preferrably COMBAT experience? The BEST you could do the last two elections is a convicted felon, a deserter during a time of war, a cokehead, whose wife killed just as many people in traffic accidents as Ted Kennedy did? Oh and Ahnold? The RNC is SO bankrupt of charismatic, intelligent Presidential contenders they actually want to CHANGE THE US CONSTITUTION to allow Arnold Schwarzenegger to run for President! They are so morally lazy they would rather inport their Presidents than raise them.
Thompson's idea of family values? A wife 25 years his junior? No kids, but votes Pro Choice regularly and doesn't support a Federal ban on Gay Marriage?

The campaign has been going on for over a year with the election over a year away and I'm sick of it already. I've had enough! At this point I don't care what any of them do, say, think,or feel. I don't care what their issues are, where they're from, if they take regular baths, or if they don't like broccoli. Get back to me come next September. In the meantime, I've got other things I want to be thinking about. So why am I in the "Politics and Government" section? I don't know, I just saw the question from one of my favorite contacts and couldn't help myself.

I think Fred Thompson will run away with the GOP ticket. By skipping the debate, he doesn't get into the mudslinging the others get into. I would be perfectly happy if Fred Thompson skips all other debates as well. There is no need to get mixed up in these. He has already proven to be a top tier candidate.

I almost laughed when they spent the first 15 minutes talking about it. 15 minutes of air time at a debate you chose not to attend. That says alot. Also, being the only one of Leno....he definitely stands out from the crowd (the very large crowd). After awhile, I start to jumble together what alot of those guys say. McCain and Giuliani stand out to me....the rest are old fogies in suits with red ties.

he wan't even running officially until that night. Did people want him to announce it at the debates, and have him be like "OK I'm in lets debate" I'm not a supporter or against him, but he wasn't really even a part of it yet.
People forget there is a whole year until the election, there will be plenty of time for him to go to debates and get his views out there and what he hopes to accomplish, if he were to get into the White House.

Obama is a wus -- How can we are awaiting Obama to withstand terrorists while Obama pisses his pants over the assumption-approximately appearing with a verbal replace tutor Host ? the only reason Obama has agreed to bypass on Leno is because of the fact he's conscious it particularly is going to be only one comedian cyber web hosting yet another comedian.

This is the statement du jour, of course, but, this has no bearing on the nomination process at all. Labor day is just fine a time to enter the nomination for President.

He made a promise to Jay Leno, and he stuck with that promise. IMHO, that speaks highly of him.
As far as New Hampshire goes, they're used to being pampered to and are upset. He'll need to spend some time in that state, that's a given. But all in all, it's still so early that I doubt it'll have a massive negative effect on his campaign.
Time will tell! :)
