It's a little simpler than the above answers suggest. The segment runs from 9 to 14, so it's 5 units long. The midpoint will be at 2.5 units along the segment, or at -4, 11.5.

x = (-4-4)/2 = - 4
y = (9+14)/2 = 23/2
