Putin of Russia now is throwing his weight around in Europe without impunity, Iran is mouthy and stronger, Egypt is drifting from its treaty with Israel, Palestinian chao is at a 50 year high, China becomes stronger internationally by the day. The REAL lesson from Japan (not the one Bush spoke of last week), is, that without using a military to get your way, a nation grows strong and better off for her people without wasting money and lives of her own people!

I think you meant, "with impunity" sweetie.

And your post is spot on. The "bush/Iraq debacle" has shown the entire world we haven't a CLUE about foreign affairs. And that our time/money/blood is being poured right down the drain, meaning of course, that we are "distracted" and won't be able to intercourse with any other situation.

Iraq has nothing to do with Putin in Russia
Iran being mouthy and stronger has nothing to do with Iraq
Egypt vs. Israel has nothing to do with Iraq
Palestinian chaos has nothing to do with Iraq
China has nothing to do with Iraq

What I mean by that is that if the Iraq war never happened, the above still would have likely happened.

If you want to argue cause and effect at least attempt to make the link!

I think it's more about our policy regarding the "War on Terror". Other countries are considering it "a tool" for supremacy. I think the Bush Doctrine to be quite risky and basically destabilizing to some extent the world. It's hard to believe that Congress wouldn't think it through, or at the bare minimum, think about it before succuming to the hype'n glamour of being globally self rightous. (and if the truth be known, probably hypocritical, as we used bin ladin tool in afghanistan.)

You conveniently skipped JESUS BUSH and his baseless, clueless, meaningless war in Iraq. He decimated a country just for personal gain and on the basis of false reports that were prepared by them.

So I wouldn't just call the foreign policy a mistake. I would call the foolish decisions taken by Bushco administration a mistake as well
