Too early to tell. It's a shame to hear about Huckabee's sales tax plan.

So what if Thompson was a lawyer. Here's a list of the candidates besides Thompson with law degrees.
Giuliani
Obama
Romney
Edwards
Clinton
Ron Paul doesn't have a law degree, his degree is in Medicine.
If you want to rule out lawyers (and there might well be good reason to do just that), we sure wouldn't need fourteen months to make up our minds, would we?

I sure would have liked to see Mr. Thompson at the debate in New Hampshire. There's going to be a fight between the top tier candidates like Mitt, Rudy, and now Fred and before it's all over, they'll bloody themselves, setting the stage for a more united Democratic party and the eventual winner Hillary. Mitt, Rudy, Fred and whoever, can't escape the facr that they are Republican and Americans have had enough of these people, at least for this election cycle.

Abortion has lost its effectiveness as a political difficulty. Please do not take what i visit declare right here as being derogatory in the direction of Christians or professional-lifers. i'm purely stating my observations provided that this difficulty stepped forward interior the Nineteen Eighteen Eighties. i'm not likely to insult you via saying that Huckabee and Thompson have staked out professional-existence positions to thrill their particular constituencies. however the GOP as an entire has dropped the situation. From the commencing up the GOP used the abortion difficulty to tget the votes of Christians. yet what they have easily -accomplished- for Chistians is little greater beneficial than lip service. Ronald Reagan spoke out eloquently against abortion in the process the marketing campaign of 1980. He promised that he might recommend a constitutional modification . as quickly as in place of work he forgot all approximately it. In all of the time provided that then, the Republicans have not proposed or fought for one single considerable, considerable regulation to stop abortions. What they have accomplished is to attempt to restrict 'partial delivery abortion's, a technique so uncommon that the radio information community I hear to could not detect a doctor who had accomplished one to come back in and answer questions approximately it. AND the regulation replaced into so poorly worded (maybe intentionally) that it replaced into struck down via the courts. provided that Roe vs. Wade there have been SEVEN justices appointed to the sumptuous court docket, and each replaced into seen because of the fact the vote that should overturn Roe vs. Wade. Has it got here approximately? Nope. Even the attitudes of GOP leaders at the instant has moderated. They now not have confidence that that abortion could desire to be banned on the federal point. Now they decide for the situation kicked decrease back to the states so person states can come to a selection. So as a replace of a taxi a woman can hop on a bus. no one is speaking relating to the situation at the instant because of the fact its political usefulness is over. it remains a Christian difficulty yet now not a Republican difficulty. For a presidential candidate to vow to restrict abortion is disingenuous a minimum of, because of the fact it is not a presidential prerogative. immediately applicants will say "properly, in my view i'm against abortion yet it is purely in my view. i don't think of it is something for government to become in contact in."

It seems that Thompson is timing his campaign so that he hits his stride right when the voters are making up their minds.
New Hampshire is up front in our minds now because that's where the candidates are. We start to make statements and form opinions based on that experience.
What we fail to realize is that 71% of New Hampshire is 'undecided'.
So Thompson's plan has merit if my assumptions are correct.
I think he has a lot of sprinting to do though.
I think it will put him in the hospital and he'll be a non-issue when decisions are going to be made.

Conservatives like candidates who look presidential and who can act. That's Fred Thompson. I think some of them think they'll have the second coming of Ronald Reagan if they elect another actor.
