Let n = number of workers who donated
28.5 n = 1653
n = 1653 / 28 . 5
n = 58

average = total / number of doners

28.50 = 1653 / number of doners
28.50 number of doners = 1653
number of doners = 1653/28.5 = 58

58 workers donated and average of $28.50 for a total of $1,653

avg. donation=28.50
avg of anything = total/ number of people
=1653/28.50
=58
58 workers made a contribution

average = 1653 / x
1653 / x = 28.5

x = 1653 / 28.5
x=58
