as an Englishman who is currently in the USA on business i feel i must ask this.
As a successful international businessman i have travelled the world over and it always amazes me how poorly Americans are treated. Most Americans are subjected to laughter and ridicule when they venture from their homeland and many Americans pretend to be Canadian to escape the mockery.
Is it any wonder that Americans are scared to leave their own country?

I live in Canada and I have worked in the cruise industry which is the new playground for the average American tourist. So I have vast experience with the average American. Who for the most part is rude, expect the world to make way for them because of their overblown expectation of their status on the world stage. Lots Think that the American dollar is currency all over the world and cannot understand when Europe has its own currency.
They complain and threaten legal action if there problem is not corrected that very minute. even when the poor person on the recieving end would like nothing more than to smack the living daylights out of the fat face screaming at them, and they are more wrong than right in such cases.
What is most annoying however is their complete ignorance of the rest of the world. Most have little interest outside thier own state let alone outside their own country. Its sad but the demise of the British Empire was as a result of our own ignorance and arrogance.
But they have the right to be ignorant just as much as we have the right to despise them for it, and make fun of them as a result of their ignorance.

This doesn't strike me to be the kinda question a successful international businessman would be asking??
But just for your clarification I'm Scottish and love the Americans and certainly don't think for 1 minute they are a nation that are or should be afraid of there which country they're from if anything the U.S.A happens to be the heart of the globe along with Scotland of course so maybe you should be back in the office concerning yourself with your own international business and continue to be successful and stop asking ridiculous questions

Answer is simples. USA rulled the world since end of the second War and Its Marshall Plan. Usually when any champion starts its to fell, many will point their fingers and pretend mockery.
It happens all the way with anyone under the Spot. Why peopla in England are so fascinated by celebrities? To put their finger and secretly enjoy their fall. Its human nature.
It happened to England and will happens to China and Middleeast.

you saw it ? yet me too travel a lot but do not see any talk about USA of American.Yes in the papers there are some notes about anti American feelings but many think such are personal vendetta matters nothing to do with the nation at large ! I wish I could visit where you have been one day and report on such- not all are lucky as you have been -my dear!
Nor do I see any American scarred- planes hardly have seats - some even beg for crew seats!

we, as humans, always hate and mock the big and patronise the small, that's life. People mock US citizens when travel abroad because they know that is revenge time. Nobody can challenge America as country, that makes us (the rest of the world) jealous of them. Same thing happen with the English and Italians and Germans and in a few years time the Chinese. That’s it.

Who knows. why are you such a ****?
Well, I would say you were wrong, and that American's are normally quite nice people, but having read some of the drivel above about how amazing americans are written by, you guessed it, americans, I think that most people don't laugh at them, but feel sorry for them. After all, they think they live in "paradise". seriously, i'd rather go to hell than live in America. If racial inequality, severe poverty for a huge number of people, and an idiot of a president is paradise, no NHS, and hardly any history that they haven't stolen from anyother country isn't bad enough, the ones who answered above are bigheaded and rude (giving other american's a bad name). I'd rather stay in the beautiful village i live in in England, thanks. At least the people aren't quite as up themselves as those above.
