We cannot. This is why we must not vote for someone with Socialist values. We need to maintain our individual freedom of choice.
As Fred Thompson states, "A government big enough to do everything for us, is big enough to do anything to us!"
We must trust in our own choices.

Izzy N is wrong. The 50 million figure is bogus. His attempt at logic is flawed. People should not rely on the government or insurance to take care of themselves.
Insurance is protection for catastrophic loss. Maintenance is the individual's responsibility.
The US government runs the health care program for the Veterans' Administration. It is a prime example of why the government should not be in the health care business.

Typical Right wing equation. If you have agencies run by political cronies that is the results you should expect. Fund the program properly and have knowledgeable people running it and the program will be successful.

Because 50 million people have no health insurance = no prevenative care = problems as they age = more problems and $$$ in the long run.

Not to mention we're the richest nation in the world.
