If you have a home and garden store nearby you might look for some spider spray. Spray this around the outside of your house. It won't stop them all but you will notice a decrease. Spraying them as you see them usually doesn't work because of the hairs on the back they absorb the moisture. They have to crawl in it. Most Spray are good for 6 months. Hope this helps because I am scared of them too.

i'm going to spray all window sills, any holes or openings into the abode, all door casings. yet some years in the past I took a gamble on the digital Pest administration instruments and that i've got had sturdy fulfillment. they are approximately 3 for $20.00 at Lowes or abode Depot. we've very few creatures. the main modern element we've finished that has very almost eradicated any difficulty is that we've our backyard sprayed for critters in the grass and fertilized each and every 2 months. as quickly as we did this we stopped seeing even the occasional roach and spider. in case you have pets that would take care of ever having fleas.

yes, coming in for warmth, assuming same spider as in AUS where I am, early winter, especially if wet, they pop up every where, looking for dry and warm. Over here they're called "huntsman" spiders. They do grow large, my wife says they have size 9 shoes on, she is also scared shitless. They are quite harmless really, not venomous, but can give nasty bite I've heard. I've picked heaps up and put back outside, never bitten. IF same spider?

Spiders usually come at this time of year because its the time that the harvesting is done in the fields, so the soil is turned and out they all come.
To stop them coming to your house put fresh conquers in every corner around the house, they let off a natural insecticide, I tried this and didn't see a spider since, however you have to put fresh ones down each year. Good Luck!

maybe they are drawn to something in your home, I think no matter where you live you always have some type of bug... my advice is for you to find some hedge apples and place around your house, they are non toxic to humans but spiders will not go anywhere near them if hedge apples aren't available to you depending on where you live they probably sell some type of spray to ward them off...
goodluck
