...you definitely want to check out the extravagent and absolutely nutty comedy/drama, and one of my absolute favorite films, from 1982, entitled "Tempest"; taking place mostly on an abandoned Greek island, this wonderful and wacky film stars John Cassavettes, Gena Rowlands, and was one of the first films to star both Raul Julia and a pre-John-Hughes Molly Ringwald...

There are several Gilligan's Island movies out on DVD and older VHS. These are great com dies. Storm of the century is a Stephen King book and movie. It's a long movie and is more of a horror/sci-fi movie. Escape from New York is a movie starring Kirk Russell and is a good futuristic action movie set on Long Island. Komodo is set on an island where the infamous lizard is pitted against a small group of people on an island. The Lord of the Flies is what I believe a must see movie for everyone and should be read in school by all children. There are two versions of the movie out. The original which came out in 1963, and a remake out in 1990. Both are great.

There is a Lina Wertmüller film from 1974 called "Swept Away" that is terrific. It starred Giancarlo Giannini and Mariangela Melato.
Plot Summary: A rich woman, Raffaella (,Mariangela Melato) and some friends rent a yacht to sail the Mediterranean Sea during summer. The sailor, Gennarino (Giancarlo Giannini), who is a communist, does not like this woman but has to bear with her bad mood. One day she wakes up late in the afternoon and asks to be taken to land where everyone had gone earlier. Gennarino sets up a boat but during the trip, the boat breaks down. They spend the night in the middle of the sea. They eventually end up on a desert island.
Very funny.

The Swiss Family Robinson This is an excellent family movie with also a bit of comedy and romance. Must see as far as lost/island movies go!!!!!!

Blue Lagoon - an old 80s movie starring Brooke Shields and some bloke who turned up in Dallas for a while. It was quite contraversial at the time.
