What is the difference/convienence on a side by side door refridge to a traditional up and down door (freezer on top) refridge? Or the newer style of the freezer on the bottom.

Which do you have more room with?

Which do you have and explain as to why you find it a better style?

I have a side by side and I will never buy another one. There is not enough room to put a pizza box in the fridge or the freezer! You really have to struggle. I went for style instead of substance, unfortunately, but I have learned my lesson.

I have a freezer over fridge style, and I have found that stuff tends to fall out of the freezer. As mentioned before a lot of side by side units cannot fit a pizza box, but several can. Having room to fit one in that can fit a pizza box can be a problem though.

I have long thought that the refrigerator should be over the freezer for a few reasons. Which door do you most commonly open? For most it's the fridge. Wouldn't having the stuff in the fridge at waist to shoulder level be more convenient? Ever had stuff fall out of the freezer? A package of frozen meat falling on a bare foot during the night from just below shoulder level does not feel good at all. Some fridge over freezer models have a slide out basket which holds everything. Through the door ice and water seems more convenient on fridge over models also. I'll throw this in there too. I have a small dog, and I get this mental image of me taking something out of the freezer of a fridge over model, and turning to go to the sink then the dog jumps into the freezer as the door closes. Hours later I'm missing my dog, and get into the freezer after the chocolate ice cream only to find an ice sculpture of my dog. I'd still go with the fridge over model. I'd just manually close the door every time to keep my mind free of that concern which probably has no merit whatsoever.

If you are disabled and confined to a wheelchair, then I would look at a freezer over model. Reasons should be obvious.
