Energy is transported (energy moves)as the result of the product of a moving force and the distance that the force oscillates.Hence the motion of Energy and force obeys the rules of undular motion.
That is how Energy from the Sun moves towards the Earth. The average Energy received from the Sun by the Earth is aprox 1387 joule per meter square per second.

Its very vely simple.

A couple of way. First, there's light and electromagentic radiation. Pretty obvious. Second, there are streams of charged particles that are ejected by the sun which strike the earth's magnetic field and atmosphere. The kinetic energy of those particles gets transfered in the form of heat and light.

You need to watch the series special on the History Channel. They just showed the entire solar system's components and how things happened out in space, even into distant galaxies. It included the make up and break down of a star and entire history of comets and asteroids, which eventually end up as meteroites after they actually end up on our planet in their final form. It showed how the sun is going to enlarge because of the gasses that are constantly building up in it and and producing immense heat that permeates the atmosphere of the planets within it's heating ability and as it does that, it will eventually burn up Mercury and Venus and eventually burn right thourgh the earth's ozone layer and singe everything on this planet. Once the sun gets so big it cannot contain itself any longer it is going to pop and then shrink down to a size that is smaller than Mercury is now and eventually fizzle out and become cold and turn our planet into a forever ice age wihout any heat, according to this series. They showed the entire series last Sunday all day long. Maybe you can get a copy of it or even find out from that channel when it will air again. But the reason that the heat reaches our planet now is because it has such an intense heat coming off of it that the heat travels that far. Mercury and Venus are so lifeless because the heat fromt he sun on those planets are even hotter than on ours. According to this series, the sun's heat effect is already starting to strengthen and that is why we are getting some occurrances like the ice caps melting. Plus, we are damaging our own ozone layer by all the chemicals we are putting into our atmosphere and it is just helping the sun do its damage even quicker, according to the series. I can't remember the names of all the gasses that the sun produces but however they combine on that star is why those gasses have the power and intensity to increase. The more they increase, the bigger the sun gets and the more heat from it will be able to reach the earth. Its simply because it is so hot that the heat from it just goes out that far. Go to the site below. That is the History Channel webpage where you can see the next air dates. Maybe your teacher would like to show the class (if that is why you are asking this question) this series when it airs. I included the write up about this section of the series. The whole series is called "The Universe" and the episode you want to watch is "Secrets of the Sun".

Quote:
"It is a fireball in the sky, a bubbling, boiling, kinetic sphere of white hot plasma, exploding and erupting. Its size is almost unimaginable--one million Earths would fit within its boundaries. In this violence is born almost all the energy that makes existence on Earth possible, yet, its full mysteries are only now beginning to be understood. From Sun spots to solar eclipses, solar flares to solar storms, the birth of the sun to its potential death, discover the science and history behind this celestial object that makes life on Earth exist."
