I live near Ottawa and the temperature varies greatly. In September the temperature can edge around the freezing point at night, but it's quite nice out during the day.
The earliest I've seen snow is in October and even then, the snow generally melts within 24 hours.
A good 20 years ago we would have snow on the ground by the end of November and throughout December, but now within the last 10 years it's been hit and miss to have any snow remaining on the ground by the time Christmas rolls around.
I'm crossing my fingers for a White Christmas this year.

I am a New England girl, Boston born and raised, and it can snow in june here lol.
The weather has been funny here, we used to get the first snow sometime in november, just a few flakes. Last year it was about 50-60 degrees in december and people didnt need a jacket, but then in January it was -14 degrees lol. The weather here is crazy and it is ever changing.
However, seeing as its been fairly chilly in the morning this september and will begin to warm up in the afternoon, I dont really think our winter will be different from last year. It will be freakishly warm through december, with chilly days here and there, then about January we will have the Noreasters and Blizzards. In 2005 we had a blizzard with lightning and thunder. I work right on the coast, and it was AMAZING to see the lightening crack above the ocean and through the snow... but scary at the same time.

I live in NY and we don't get snow until January, late December and in time for Christmas if we are lucky. But it starts getting cold in the middle of October and stays that way until early april. And when I say cold, I mean 30-below.

I live in Arkansas. It doesn't really get cold until late October/early November. What's snow? jk We might get one or two snow showers( 1 or 2 inches) in January. It's different in other parts of State. I do not live in hills/mountains-live in flat lands. It's much colder up there. Oh, Meant to say we get a lot of ice more than snow.

Hi Santa's Lil Helper! I'm so glad that i'm not the only one who's into Christmas so soon! I live in England so it's cold here from October - March. It doesn't always snow - but it's beautiful when it does as we have a lot of old looking town with cobbly streets - looks a bit like something off of a victorian christmas card!

I live in northern New York, 15 minutes from the Canadian border. We can have snow as early as Oct. I have taken my kids trick or treating while it was snowing outside. In Oct. we can have temps in the 30's by January we can have temps in the -30's. Last year we had a week long snow storm dropping more than 100 inches of snow.

SW Michigan, it varies. Cold in November, sometimes snow for Thanksgiving, sometimes a little before Christmas and rarely not until January - last year was horrible for the skiers because it didn't really snow enough until late January!
