Im on the pill for 5 days now, and earlier i had sex but we used the withdrawal method. I should be very protected by this point now, being on the pill right? (I'm also aware it typically takes 7 days) Also, does taking a morning after pill whilst i'm on the pill at this point sound stupid? And how dangerous is it, does it affect me at all? Thanks for anyones help.

I should be ok, after 5days off using it, it SHOULD be in ur system but u still should of used extra protection & also the WITHDRAWEL method DOES NOT WORK, If you old enough to go on the pill you should be old enough to no that doesnt work! Im not sure if u can use the morning after pill while on the pill ive been on the pill since i was 16 & im now 19 but ive never had to so im not sure about that!

The only thing you can do is wait till your on your 7day break & if you dont come on you could be pregnant, U should go the doctors!

It's not advised to have unprotected sex the first month of taking birth control. While I realize the pill packet says to only wait a week before having unprotected sex, there are a lot of factors that play a role in how birth control protects you from unwanted pregnancy. It can sometimes take an entire month before the hormones have regulated themselves in your system. Things such as weight, etc, play a big role in how the pill protects you from pregnancy.

Taking the morning after pill while on birth control shouldn't hurt you, though. But, it's best to use a back-up method such as condoms during the first month of taking the pill, just to be on the safe side. Also, remember to take your pill at or around the same time each day to ensure there's a steady flow of hormones in your system.

The morning after pill is basically just highly concentrated birth control pills. In fact, you can take several of your current birthcontrol pills in lieu of the morning after pill, or just in case you arent able to get some. They don't suggest taking more than a weeks worth, so keep that in mind.

Knowing that I would say it wont affect you at all to take the morning after while on the pill.

I am sure the DR explained to a first time pill user that you are NOT fully protected for the first month!
