My honest opinion, I think the others started too early, WAY too much information too soon! And it's bit some of them in the ***, for sure. What do you think of Fred doing it now?

Oh, I certainly agree with you. Two solid years of campaigning is nauseating, gets boring, and the public begins to lose interest. As a result, the last Democratic debate was a complete bomb. People had already gotten sick and tired of tuning in.

Thompson's timing is perfect and I believe will be very beneficial for him. Clinton didn't throw his hat into the ring until Oct., and it certainly worked for him.

You find the answer to that one let me know, although it might actually be smart. After all many polls show him as a top tier candidate without even actually being in the race. If he gets in just a couple months before the primary he will need less money for the time he's doing any real advertising, and it gives the other candidates less time to try to tear him down. Fred already has name and face recognition, so no, this won't hurt him.

As far as the others starting too early? I think the modern campaign concept runs along the lines of advertising. And the notion is that people must see or hear your name 3 times to remember you.

Absolutely not! The usual campaign announcements come after Labor Day, and he is right on with that. He didn't waste a lot of money jumping out ahead of time. I like that he says, "Government big enough to do everything for us is big enough to do anything to us!" Ain't that the truth? He is honest and candid. I like his position on security, health care and the economy.

Fred in 08!

By the time everyone's bored stiff with all the other candidates, Fred Thompson will generate new energy, interest, and enthusiasm. I think his timing is perfect! -RKO- 09/06/07

Timing is everything, and I think he is smart enough to know, that as long as you get the hype and don't have to answer questions and allow yourself to be attacked, the better off you are. He knew he would be able to raise the money, so NO, I think he is entering at the right time. I think Newt Gingrich, is going to throw his hat into the ring, but he may have waited too long.

He simply started his campaign when they should traditionally start.

Edit for Bert T-

"and his actions on the Senate Finance Committee led DIRECTLY to the collapse of the Savings and Loan industry in the 80s, a multi trillion dollar collapse which was paid for by US taxpayers"

That's a good trick! seeing how he wasn't elected and began serving in Congress until the 90's.

I think he is okay, especially now and days with the Internet and such. Plus, he has name recognition, since he enters millions of homes on Law & Order every Thursday night. I think he can easily beat the Communist threat of Hillary Clinton and save America from IslamoFascism.

Exactly what you think. He's on the right track. He'll be maligned like all conservatives for whatever he does. Entering the race now will not influence the results.
