ROME - Luciano Pavarotti, whose vibrant high C's and ebullient showmanship made him the most beloved and celebrated tenor since Caruso and one of the few opera singers to win crossover fame as a popular superstar, died Thursday. He was 71.

I am sad at his passing. I liked his Ave Maria rendition.

I am a fan of Luciano Pavarotti, and in his passing, I believe the music industry has lost one of its most significant contributors. Though I am a rock fan usually, I am also an opera singer, and I recognize and greatly admire the talent in Mr. Pavarotti's performances, and though I'm not particularly religious, I had also been awed by his rendition of Ave Maria.

He had been a legend in his own right, and I hope he finds peace in the afterlife.

I share your pain, dear heart. I'm a big fan of the Three Tenors (Carreras/Domingo/Pavarotti). Again, we will remember Sept. 6 as the day the music died.

Here's Luciano with Barry White (both gone forever).....uncomparable ---

His music will be remembered. I am saddened by his death, although I was never a fan. I know the world will feel the loss of a great man of art but to me, it's business as usual.

Not really. I hardly know the man. I am, unfortunately, not into the operatic scene. I can't understand their words, most likely it is in Italian. Sorry.

Well it's sad that he had to suffer with cancer this past year. Luckily though we can remember him through his recordings. His voice was heavenly.
