I think black gravel would look really nice, and the darker the color of gravel in your aquarium the more the colors in your fish will show. I wanted black gravel in my 20 gallon but I couldn't find enough so I put dark blue. But I would go for it!!!!!!!!!!!! I think it will be AWESOME! and if you do regular cleaning you shouldn't have to worry about uneaten worms and debry. Good Luck!!! :)

You should try to introduce bottom feeder like the loach. They tend to stay at the bottom of the gravel finding food. They can smell really well and pick up food. Black gravel is fine. Anyway, if you feed them worm, fish will go happy and eat them before they fall to the bottom. Also, you could buy a gravel vacuum and clean out the bottom. You should be able to see the debris but the vacuum will take care of things you can't see. Hope this helps!

i think its a great idea. i just recently acquired a 10 gal. and it has neon blue and pink gravel. it truely is a terrible sight. I bought a blue spectrum deep ocean plant light (similar to a blacklight) thinking it could mkae the gravel look cool and was greatly mistaken. I think the fish in there are thinking of committing suicide. i caught them huddling near the opening in the lid.
I think i'm going to have to buy some black gravel and mix a little white in there. I've always prefered some sort of offsetting color to add a little character to the gravel (2-3 black, 1 white).
as mentioned above, intoducing a small bottom feeder is a great idea. they will remove any scraps the fish can scrounge up.

Black gravel is great and has a good effect (look wise) on a tank.
As long as you vac the gravel every week to remove debris you wont have any problems.
Just dont over feed and there wont be lots of crap at the bottom

it is no longer a brilliant deal. placed the fish into that bowl and make valuable something is over the bowl so they are able to't leap out. placed the clear out media into the countless previous water to maintain the advantageous micro organism alive. substitute the gravel and clean the decorations. Fill the tank with clean taken care of water and placed the clear out media decrease back into the clear out. finally, placed the fish decrease back in by way of reacclimating them the kind you will possibly with new fish. basically confirm you get finished in a lifelike quantity of time (like an hour) to keep away from the bowl water getting too chilly or utilising up each and all the oxygen.

black gravel or sand is very stylish, really makes colourful fish and plants 'pop' and stand out.
with regards to things burrowing or not being able to be seen in the gravel, a good stir and gravel vaccuum during cleaning should fix that!
