Welcome to adulthood - start asking. If you aren't willing to ask, you aren't ready to have sex.

Testing is the only sure fire way to know. A long term relationship should allow you to be honest enough about the situation that he could and would be tested. You should as well as a sign of good faith. Remember the pill is NOT a means of stopping STD's and if you read thru other sections in yahoo answers you'll see a good share of women who got pregnant while taking the pill so be forewarned

You need to be up front and honest with him. If you are in that type of a relationship where sex is involved then you should have no problem talking to him about STD's and STI's. Just talk the subject over with him.

Testing is the only way to be 100% sure that he is clean.
It's best to always use a condom if you're unsure about STD's. Remember that not all STD's show symptoms, and just because a person doesn't appear to be infected, he/she could be without you realizing it. If you're too afraid to ask him to have a test, use a condom every single time to protect yourself.

In this day and age, I would strongly recommend that your bf be tested, and that any sexual contact be done ONLY with a condom. There are too many sexually transmitted diseases out there, and some can lead to serious problems, leaving you unable to get pregnant, etc. It may be embarrassing to ask him to take a test BUT it sure beats getting treatment for an STD.

You just need to ask him to get tested. Simple. Why wouldn't you want to protect yourself? If he is decent he will understand
