Im a virgin, and if i go out with a guy who has had sex before, how do i know he doesn't have any sti's or anything? :s I know he can get tested, but i dont want to ask him to!! So what can i do about it? Because if we are in a long term relationship and im on the pill, i guess we wouldn't always want to use condoms?

Welcome to adulthood - start asking. If you aren't willing to ask, you aren't ready to have sex.

Testing is the only sure fire way to know. A long term relationship should allow you to be honest enough about the situation that he could and would be tested. You should as well as a sign of good faith. Remember the pill is NOT a means of stopping STD's and if you read thru other sections in yahoo answers you'll see a good share of women who got pregnant while taking the pill so be forewarned

You need to be up front and honest with him. If you are in that type of a relationship where sex is involved then you should have no problem talking to him about STD's and STI's. Just talk the subject over with him.

Testing is the only way to be 100% sure that he is clean.

It's best to always use a condom if you're unsure about STD's. Remember that not all STD's show symptoms, and just because a person doesn't appear to be infected, he/she could be without you realizing it. If you're too afraid to ask him to have a test, use a condom every single time to protect yourself.

In this day and age, I would strongly recommend that your bf be tested, and that any sexual contact be done ONLY with a condom. There are too many sexually transmitted diseases out there, and some can lead to serious problems, leaving you unable to get pregnant, etc. It may be embarrassing to ask him to take a test BUT it sure beats getting treatment for an STD.

ok,, in ur case i'd advise u to just go together and get the sti test.. so in this case he wouldn't feel offended or anything.. well, as for my experience, i loose my virginity to my bf a few years back, and be4 that he has had sex be4 with many other women.. and it was my mistake for not getting any test.. but thank god. everythign is fine.. but yet dun take the risk llike i did. wat if he is infected rite? if u dun wanna get it anyway, just use condoms honey.. u'll be save..

if you are in a long term relationship, there should be nothing that you should be afraid to ask of him,.by all means, make him get tested before any sexual intercourse takes place.... would you be willing to DIE for him????

You just need to ask him to get tested. Simple. Why wouldn't you want to protect yourself? If he is decent he will understand
