I have a weird problem. The electricity in one of the rooms in my apartment goes off temporarily once in a while and comes back on a couple of hours later. I thought its the fuse box the first time, but it isn't. The last time it happened last summer, I discovered an old extension cord was causing some issue. What do you guys think this is?

The worst part is that it's not related to the amount of loan in the room. Sometimes just a bulb with cause the trip off. And it would back itself in an hour or two.

you probably have a short in your wiring. It is arching due to moisture or just pops once in a while during load changes. It could be dangerous. If it is within your walls there is a fire potential. But... to make sure what is really happening. Pull all switches and receptacles in the room. Replace them all. Its not expensive and the new plates and switches will make the place look nicer. Better yet. If you are renting, make the land lord do it. Its is a prospective fire hazard and should be covered under your lease or rental agreement. The landlord should be informed in any case and if worse comes to worse contact your electrical company or the fire department.
