See if the dealer says that you had not maintained the oil level, then he is wrong, as the oil level doesn't goes down until the gas kit not good of the piston rings are not working OK! but it takes around 6 to 7 months to the oil level to go that much down that the engine has an major damage. now make a report from the workshop and you can sue the dealer for selling you the car that was having less oil level.

Certainly the oil level is the owners responsibility. You may receive results because of the excess oil sludge, gum and varnish inside the engine. You as an owner obviously didn't know it was there and could not have been responsible for it in 2.5 months. When sludge is this bad the oil return holes inside the valve covers plug not allowing the pressurized oil to the valve train return to the oil pan. The oil pump is being starved for oil if it's restricted as bad as you say. The oil pump screen may be partially plugged also.
Your purchase is a prime example of someone before you not caring for competent normal service of the cooling system (motor running too cold) and regular oil changes. Both are vastly important in a country with wide swings in ambient temperature and humidity. When any motor does not reach specified operating temperature condensation, gasoline wash-down, acids, gum and varnish form the sludge you see now.
These are the reasons we all recommend shortened (time and miles) oil changes, particularly for people who do a lot of town driving in cool weather. This is the most demanding on any internal combustion engine.

We hope your issue is resolved to your satisfaction.

I don't know what country you're in, but if it's England go to your local Citzens Advice beaureu I'm sure you have a case against the dealer.
