hi
i think the question is "why do we believe in God?" thats the fundamental query of our existence. the belief in God or rather a supreme being with the omnpotence to control the universe around us, comes from a deep need to explain the origin of life. we try to seek an explanation to the things we see happens around us. nature's forces manifest a power greater than nature itself. we see this and we ask ourselves what is it that controls nature itself. our belief in God gives us a satisfactory amswer to the many questions we have. an expectant mother has no control over the baby within her, the birth and growth of the child is neither in her power, the ultimate death of a person shows us that there is an invisible and totally powerful controlling force behind the life in the universe. we cannot tell what happens after one dies so we imagine the life goes back to wherever it came from, viz to God. history will teach us that this two phenomena (i.e life and death) are what led man into the belief in God and the beginning of religion. in my opinion the belief in God originates from our sense of insecurity and utter hopelessness in the face of what we cannot explain. human beings need something they can relate their existance to and the belief in a Supreme God, omnipresent in our lives, omniscient of the knowlege that we have not and omnipotent over all that lies in the heavens and earth fulfills this purpose. salim.

Do you mean why do people believe in god? well the reason the believe in god is because of the fear of the unknown, aka what happens after we die its the same reason primitive people believed that lightning happened when the gods where angry until it was explained that it is not so. So until someone can prove with out doubt what happens when we die people will keep believing in god.

I refer to the God who is omniscient and all-powerful.

I personally think that it would be absurd for me not to attribute the existence of thing to an all-powerful being who is existence himself.

I cannot rest to the theory that the universe is made or effect of the big bang theory. I still need to account the elements that brought about the bing bang to an uncaused creator.

All honest atheism leads inexorably to nihilism and nihilism leads to insanity or suicide. Our human nature has a great capacity for self delusion so honest atheism is hard to come by.

We hope that God exists because then we might find our purpose, our meaning and our worth in a relationship of love with our Creator. We hope that God doesn't exist because then we would have a authority over us to whom we would be responsible and with that, we would no longer be captain of our fate and master of our soul.

If we decide that we truly want God, then we have to "hold as true", i.e. believe, that He exists in order to seek Him.

If we decide that we truly want our independence from God, then we "hold as true", i.e. believe, that He doesn't exist so we don't have to seek Him.

Do you mean why do I believe in God? I mostly believe in spirit, a thing I believe to be everywhere and eternal... perhaps that is God. Most likely, I reckon. I can't go anymore with any formal religion, but I do pray, I do believe in spirit.

well i don't believe in god, i believe more on Nietzsche when he said that god is dead and we killed him/her. here are some thoughts i consider as reasons why god is dead; the mere fact that we put god in language we put a limit to his/her supposed to be unlimited characteristics, we are putting an end to his/her so called "almightyness". furthermore in order to assert our own will to survive we must necessarily kill god in order to do so, we must kill god so we can as i termed it do what ever we want without the fear of being punished by some powerful being out there.

well i don't believe in god but that doesn't mean that i don't believe in something else, i believe in something else just like how i believe in myself, although there are limits to my potentialities but i believe i can do a lot of good things within these limits.

because his story is the most realistic...
you just have to believe that god is so powerful and wise
that we cannot fathom his reasons...

i dunno why we believe in God.. all i know is, when you believe in Him, you are filled with so much hope and peace and happiness.. when you believe in Him, you know that nothing 's gonna happen to you.. that He's gonna protect you from all evil..

believe me.. only if you have full faith in God, you'll able to feel this..
