Try to mitigate the error with restitution, or by some other means if possible. BUT, negotiate to minimize said mitigation as much as possible!!! Don't admit wrong doing or ask for forgiveness.
I'm basing this on the Kantian model of CATEGORICAL, and on what I know about Kant's transgression in these regards.

Most of all, try to follow a particular creed in the future. If it be Kant's...well..then so be it...

If you are guilty of a categorical error then you don't have anything to do but face it. Try ask for forgiveness if you have to or just make the necessary steps to improve on your guilt feeling by moral acceptance. Talk to the person whom you have committed and discuss it with open heart. This will somehow ease the guiltness within you.
