We won the battle but, lost the war, to quote a great orator. This is the fourth Iraq Parliament that has been put into the government, they fell, now what: I simply don't know.

The Iraqi's simply don't have the initiative to govern themselves, they have no seance of loyalty to them selves nor do they have any semblance of government.

We have chosen to be out of the country, they want us out now, by next spring, it's also advised strongly that we take all of our military hardware with us, this will leave them totally defenseless due to the fact they have no army that can hold off these rebels.
I think Iraq is going to be lost to time, like many African countries, run by rebel groups, the largest running the show.

I think we had lost it before we even started. The invading powers totally neglected to understand the culture they were dealing with.
I don't know if we could have done anything to stop the Americans going in, probably not, but history shows us that the thinking of the Middle Eastern countries is notoriously different from ours.
It would need a T.E. Lawrence to sort out the situation now, but, I suspect the Western powers would be just as resilient and ungrateful for it now as they were then.

We never set out objectives before we went in so we can't say if we've achieved them.

1) Get rid of Saddam - Job done
2) Disable WMDs - Well there weren't any but at least we know.
3) Bring peace and stability to the Middle East - Well 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

no person wins in war. loss of life tolls upload as much as the ingredient the place you ask your self what's the purpose of all of it? i'm uncertain approximately others yet i'm feeling this manner well-referred to as quickly as I study the headlines approximately Iraqi's and US infantrymen down. i don't think of unquestionably all and sundry cares anymore approximately who wins, i think of they only prefer to work out an end to the conflict. My husband is interior the protection tension and little question will at last get noted as for it. i'm basically praying that the present turn of activities would be sparkling sufficient for each individual to work out that we could desire to get out. the human beings there are patently not functioning interior the equipment that we attempt to help of their us of a and now it has grow to be a civil war. If this maintains, we can grow to be further and extra liable for this us of a through clutter that has been made. we can the two could desire to settle for a clean executive technique that the inhabitants consents on and help rebuild it or we can could desire to pull out.

I don't think you can lose a war where you're not fighting a proper government army.
Not that we've won either. I don't know if "War" is even the right word anymore. It's more of a "conflict" now.

point of the iraq war was to get of saddam so in that respect, yes, we won years ago. not entirely sure what our point is now, and if you don't have a goal how can you win? supposedly we're just a peace keeping force, so there's not really anything to win.

but i do think the best thing would be to pull out and leave them to it, they don't want us there, say 'sorry for messing up your country' and get out.

In my opinion a resounding YES. America and UK thought they could impose a democratic system on an Arab country. Democracy is something that will have to come from within.
We should learn to mind our own business. Would we like it if another country decided they knew what was best for us?
