You ask if it's okay to write a poem and swear,
well if I happen to curse a bit, I don't care.

If I need to choose a word to fill in the gap,
I wouldn't use "map", I'd go for the word "crap".

And if I were writing a poem about Bill or Chuck,
I'd still be swearing but I'd be nice and choose "luck".

i think it depends on the poem if u are angry and u are writing about how u feel then i see no problem with it and as for it being cheap i disagree i have read many poems which have swear words in them even some of my own do i dont think its wrong at all :)

Well I think is not good to swear in a poem, because the poem have history and it has meaning as well and it could be gift of God that make it peace of mind. It is better not to swear in a poem. Good luck and enjoy.

it depends on the poem if it is a happy content poem then a swear word would not fit in but if it is a poem based on something bad you are experiencing in life then it would be based on your emotions and the way you are feeling. a poem is about expression and the words are your way of expression what your feeling or thinking. if the swear word fits into the poem then go for it but if it is a love poem or happy poem then i would say no.

Swear words belong in poems. More poets should swear. Any decent poet understands economy of language, and because swears are emphasis words they add power to a phrase. It's like being able to put an exclamation point in the middle of a sentence.

for me its not wrong to swear in poem because writing a poem is a form of expressing ourselves and if its what you feel then you have the freedom to write any theme you want for your poem.

but, if its not necessary for you to swear then do your best still not to do it, lol

I definitely do not think it is wrong. A poem is an expression from inside you. You put down on paper what you think, feel, desire, etc... DO NOT write a poem to satisfy others. Keep it coming from the heart.

Wrong, no. cheap, yes. Profanity, as a rule, is a poor man's expression. The words are used so often they are almost meaningless. I wrote one poem which had the word "F**K" in it, but I was quoting a person who had used the word. Be more creative.
