I guess what I really want to know is what places are more suited to a single woman in her 40's. I will be traveling alone.

$300.00 or minimum 3 star hotel. I like gambling, fine dining and the night life more than day activities. Also I want a very cold room.

Best hotel - you need to narrow it down a little more than that.

Best value
Orleans

>To get to your room at this hotel you must pass through security and show your room key.

Best 5 star resorts

Best in downtown

Best value - on the strip

What I did was look at this from the point of view of "if" my GF was going by herself where would I want her to stay. Several of my choices were either sold out or very-very high(Caesars/Venetian/Paris/etc) - But I did find two very good deals at great hotels for the 23rd(depending on the number of nights you need)

"The Signature" at MGM-Grand has the 23rd to the 26th(3 nights) for $199 per night >The 26th & 27th are $319 per night

Luxor has a Promotion for those nights - PC="LNON12" online or "LDNON12" if you call 1-888-777-0188
Pyramid Spa Suite - $994.50 for 5 nights(9/23-9/28) avg $199 per night >These are some of my favorite rooms in all of LV. The Jacuzzi is built up into the corner of the room, awesome view or either the strip or mountains(request the view you prefer)

Luxor - same promotion - "Tower Spa Suite" $1129.50 for 5 nights($225.90 per night) - These rooms might be very slightly nicer, but the view is nowhere near what it is from the Pyramid.

The Luxor is a very nice 4 star hotel, with several new nightclubs, very nice pool area, and their own monorail to Mandalay Bay & Excalibur. The monorail makes the MGM & NY NY hotels a very convenient short walk.

I just came back from Vegas a few weeks ago for a solo trip. I'm 36 so here are the "hotel's i stayed in.

Hooters - cheap price and cheap hotel. Paid $60 per night but wasn't too impressed with the property. Carpet needed changing. Awful view. Didn't expect much for $60 per night but didn't get any surprises either. If you can find better, then find better. I stayed there my first 2 nights. I do have to say that their beds were comfortable.

Caesar's Palace - definately found a deal for this one or else i wouldn't have stayed there. Caesar's can be on the pricer side. But with a deal of $120 per night with free upgrade i couldn't pass up the deal. Glad i did. I had an awesome room. Huge, I actually got and upgrade on my upgrade and was placed in a premiere palace tower room. A $400 a night room for $120 per night. I stayed at Caesar's for 2 nights and didn't want to leave i loved the room and hotel so much. Two thumbs up for Caesar's!

Flamingo - directly across the street from Caesar's. Got another deal for $96 per night with free upgrade to their new Go Room. Again got another upgrade with the upgrade. I got more of a Go Luxury Suite room. 2 42" flat screen TV's , Tv in bathroom mirror, 2 Denon stereo systems. It was great. I was there on my last night. Another 2 thumbs up. They are still in the process of doing renovations to the rooms so some of the floors (mine included) had old carpet in the hallway but the room was great.

Caesar's and the Flamingo are directly on the Strip. Hooters is one block off of the strip but has easy access to MGM and the Monorail.

This was my 4th trip. I've stayed at Bally's (was very please with the rooms and pleasantly surprised). and NY NY before. I also like the NY NY room. I've also stayed at Excalibur before but that hotel is very kid friendly (was traveling with 4 kids when i stayed at this hotel). So i don't suggest Excalibur for your trip.

I am not a real gambler or clubber. I just like the sites. Going from hotel to hotel, eating at the buffets, shopping and checking out the free sites so i have no suggestions on clubs for you but do look into the hotels i've suggested above.

Have fun on your trip!

Treasure Island club seem to be pretty popping. Palms is the ultimate super club. New York New York has a coyote bar. Mirage has a nice club and the Beatles bar, it's a smaller size club with a classy touch.

I don't think there is that much difference between them. It just depends on how much you want to spend and what you want out of the hotel.
See Lauren's answer about the clubs, I feel pretty much the same way.
